We offer many opportunities for you to get involved and donate your time and talents to our patients. Spend a few hours every week playing with sick children or reading to elderly patients. Or join our local auxiliary or community advisory groups to help raise funds, support our mission and provide a voice for your community. See the video story from NYC Media. Volunteers give of their time and talents in countless ways. Some even create special programs that utilize their own special skills and interests.
We know, like us, some of our families are facing financial difficulties right now. If you need assistance, please reach out to us. It's about time for an organization that modernizes the volunteering experience and makes it teen friendly. After all, it's not about money, it's about time! We work with local nonprofits to find student-friendly volunteer opportunities and send them directly to our members.
For this role, we are looking for volunteers that are committed to sharing the WCS mission and message, are outgoing and approachable, are comfortable interacting with large groups, and are eager to learn and try new things. Expedition Leaders at the Bronx Zoo lead inquiry-based tours for school children, private groups, families, or other pre-registered participants. If you have a passion for engaging people in observation and critical thinking, are an excellent listener with a strong interest in inquiry, are comfortable managing groups of all sizes, and have a commitment to teaching in response to learner feedback—the Expedition Leader role would be a great fit for you! As a Play Partner, you will facilitate nature play based activities in our new Nature Trek exhibit, as well as alongside our Conservation Educators and Fellows during Nature Club events and meetings. If you enjoy spending time outside and embracing all the elements, consider becoming a Play Partner volunteer!
